Abstract
A system for automatic control total reevaluation during batch processing of ACH data files, such that control total information received by an originating financial institution after an attempted batch processing operation on an associated ACH data file can still be automatically matched with the already received associated ACH data file, the ACH data file can be appropriately modified to reflect receipt of the matching control total information, and the ACH data file can be processed at a subsequent scheduled batch processing operation.

A system, comprising:
- a processor;
- memory communicatively coupled to the processor, the memory including instructions that are executable by the processor to cause the processor to:
- receive, from a network, at an automated clearing house (ACH) core processing application residing in the memory, ACH data files from a plurality of originators via multiple originating channels;
- receive, from the network, at the ACH core processing application, control total information associated with the ACH data files from the plurality of originators via control total channels that are different than the originating channel;
- modify the ACH core processing application, by a control total reevaluation module residing in the memory, by creating an exception table within the ACH core processing application;

- suspend, by the ACH core processing application, processing of the at least one ACH data file and write, by the ACH core processing application to a suspended work file, a processing suspension message assigning a suspended status to the at least one ACH data file;
- extract, by the control total reevaluation module, at least some information contained in the processing suspension message and further modify the ACH core processing application by storing the extracted information as a corresponding processing suspension message entry in the exception table;
- prior to a subsequent ACH data file batch processing operation, receive new control total information for at least one of the received plurality of the ACH data files;
- detect, by the control total reevaluation module, the new control total information;
- determine, by the control total reevaluation module, that less than a predetermined allowable number of ACH data file batch processing operations have been completed or less than a predetermined allowable amount of time has passed;
- read, by the control total reevaluation module, the processing suspension message entry in the exception table;
- filter, by the control total reevaluation module, the new control total information to generate filtered new control total information including only control total information received from the originator of the at least one ACH data file;
- compare, by the control total reevaluation module, the at least one ACH data file associated with the processing suspension message entry to the filtered new control total information;
- determine, by the control total reevaluation module as a result of comparing the at least one ACH data file with the filtered new control information, that matching control total information has been received for the at least one ACH data file;
- in response to determining that matching control total information has been received for the at least one ACH data file, modify by the control total reevaluation module, the at least one ACH data file by amending a collected file segment of the at least one ACH data file to remove the suspended status of the at least one ACH data file;
- and
- in response to amending the collected file segment of the at least one ACH data file by the control total reevaluation module, instruct the ACH core processing application to further process the at least one ACH data file.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions that are executable by a processor of a computing system for causing the processor to:
- receive, from a network, at an automated clearing house (ACH) core processing application executing on the computing system, ACH data files from a plurality of originators via multiple originating channels;
- receive, from the network and at the ACH core processing application, control total information associated with the ACH data files from the plurality of originators via a control total channels that are different than the originating channel;
- modify the ACH core processing application, by a control total reevaluation module, by creating an exception table within the ACH core processing application;
- identify, at a first scheduled ACH data file batch processing operation, by an automated schedule and arrival processing (ASAP) component of the ACH core processing application, at least one ACH data file of a received plurality of the ACH data files for which no matching control total information has been received;
- suspend, by the ACH core processing application, processing of the at least one ACH data file and write, by the ACH core processing application to a suspended work file, a processing suspension message assigning a suspended status to the at least one ACH data file;
- extract, by the control total reevaluation module, at least some information contained in the processing suspension message and further modify the ACH core processing application by storing the extracted information as a corresponding processing suspension message entry in the exception table;
- prior to a subsequent ACH data file batch processing operation, receive new control total information for at least one of the received plurality of the ACH data files;
- detect, by the control total reevaluation module, the new control total information;
- determine, by the control total reevaluation module, that less than a predetermined allowable number of ACH data file batch processing operations have been completed or less than a predetermined allowable amount of time has passed;
- read, by the control total reevaluation module, the processing suspension message entry in the exception table;
- filter, by the control total reevaluation module, the new control total information to generate filtered new control total information including only control total information received from the originator of the at least one ACH data file;
- compare, by the control total reevaluation module, the at least one ACH data file associated with the processing suspension message entry to the filtered new control total information;
- determine, by the control total reevaluation module as a result of comparing the at least one ACH data file with the filtered new control information, that matching control total information has been received for the at least one ACH data file;
- in response to determining that matching control total information has been received for the at least one ACH data file, modify by the control total reevaluation module, the at least one ACH data file by amending a collected file segment of the at least one ACH data file to remove the suspended status of the at least one ACH data file;
- and
- in response to amending the collected file segment of the at least one ACH data file by the control total reevaluation module, instruct the ACH core processing application to further process the at least one ACH data file.
A computer-implemented method comprising:
- receiving, at a processor of an automated clearing house (ACH) transaction processing system, ACH data files from a plurality of originators via multiple originating channels, and providing the ACH data files to an ACH core processing application the ACH transaction processing system;
- receiving, at the processor, control total information associated with the ACH data files from the plurality of originators via control total channels that are different than the originating channel, and providing the ACH data files to the ACH core processing application;
- causing, by the processor, a control total reevaluation module of the ACH transaction processing system to modify the ACH core processing application by creating an exception table within the ACH core processing application;
- at a first scheduled ACH data file batch processing operation, causing, by the processor, an automated schedule and arrival processing (ASAP) component of the ACH core processing application to identify at least one ACH data file of a received plurality of the ACH data files for which no matching control total information has been received;
- causing, by the processor, the ACH core processing application to suspend processing of the at least one ACH data file and to write to a suspended work file, a processing suspension message assigning a suspended status to the at least one ACH data file;
- causing, by the processor, the control total reevaluation module to extract at least some information contained in the processing suspension message and to further modify the ACH core processing application by storing the extracted information as a corresponding processing suspension message entry in the exception table;
- prior to a subsequent ACH data file batch processing operation, receiving new control total information for at least one of the received plurality of the ACH data files;
- causing, by the processor, the control total reevaluation module to detect the new control total information;
- determining, by the processor, that less than a predetermined allowable number of ACH data file batch processing operations have been completed or less than a predetermined allowable amount of time has passed;
