Apparatus and method for aerosol delivery

An apparatus for aerosol delivery, the apparatus comprising:

• an outer body;
• a power source;
• an aerosolizable material reservoir;
• a control circuit comprising an aerosol generation mechanism and a relay;
• and
• a processing circuit comprising a wireless communication device configured to communicate with an external device, wherein the wireless communication device comprises a near field communication (NFC) chip and an antenna communicatively connected to the NFC chip, wherein the antenna includes a transducer configured to convert a first external response into a voltage for use by the processing circuit, the processing circuit configured to:
• send a first identification data associated with the apparatus to an external device, wherein the external device is an NFC reader at the point of sale configured to receive a second identification data from an identification document, and send a data received timestamp from the apparatus to a remote server;
• and wherein sending the first identification data further comprises cryptographically hashing the first identification data and sending the cryptographically hashed first identification data to the external device;
• receive the first external response from the external device, wherein the first external response is generated as a function of the second identification data by the external device;
• modify an internal state of the processing circuit as a function of the first external response and the voltage converted from the first external response;
• determine a device usability as a function of the modified internal state;
• configure the control circuit to enable the device as a function of the device usability, wherein configuring the control circuit comprises configuring the relay to make contact between the power source and the aerosol generation mechanism as a function of the voltage converted from the external response;
• receive a second external response from the external device;
• and configure the control circuit to disable the device based on the second external response;
• and
• a magnetic insulator disposed between the power source and the wireless communication device, wherein the magnetic insulator is configured to mitigate interference between the power source and the wireless communication device.
