Intraluminal device with looped core wire

An intraluminal device, comprising:

• a flexible, elongated sheath having a proximal section and a distal section, the distal section of the sheath terminating in a distal end of the sheath, wherein the distal section of the sheath has a distal bending segment and a proximal support segment situated proximally from the distal bending segment, the distal bending segment being configured for greater flexibility than the proximal support segment;
• a continuous elongated core wire extending between a proximal tip of the core wire and a distal tip of the core wire, the core wire being situated at least partially within the sheath, wherein the core wire comprises a distal end portion doubled back in a loop within the sheath, the distal end portion including a first loop portion, a core wire bend, and a second loop portion:
• wherein the first loop portion extends distally from the proximal tip of the core wire to the core wire bend and is unattached to the inner wall of the sheath, being free to move axially with respect to the sheath when an axial force is exerted on a proximal portion of the core wire;
• and
• wherein the second loop portion extends proximally from the core wire bend;
• and
• a movement restrictor situated at least partially within the sheath, the movement restrictor comprising a bond between the second loop portion and at least one inner wall of the sheath, the bond preventing axial movement of the second loop portion with respect to the sheath, permitting the loop of the core wire to buckle, resulting in a bend in the distal section of the sheath between the bond and the distal end of the sheath, when an axial force is exerted on a proximal portion of the core wire, the continuous nature of the core wire providing force transfer of the axial force to the sheath via the bond between the second loop portion and at least one inner wall of the sheath.
