Abstract
A caster assembly includes a caster and a lock member. The caster can include a caster support coupled to the robotic surgery console and a caster wheel rotatably coupled to the caster support. The lock member can include a pivot component, an extension portion, and a brake portion. The brake portion can pivot relative to the caster between a locked position and an unlocked position. In the locked position, the brake portion engages with the caster wheel, and in the unlocked position, the brake portion is disengaged with the caster wheel.
Claims23
A caster assembly for use with a surgical console, the caster assembly comprising:
- a caster comprising a caster support coupled to the surgical console and a caster wheel rotatably coupled to the caster support;
- and
- a lock member comprising a pivot component, an extension portion, and a brake portion coupled to the pivot component and the extension portion, the brake portion being pivotably mounted via the pivot component to permit the brake portion to pivot relative to the caster between a locked position in which the brake portion engages with the caster wheel and an unlocked position in which the brake portion is disengaged with the caster wheel, the extension portion extending from the brake portion in a direction opposite the pivot component.
A caster assembly for use with a surgical console, the caster assembly comprising:
- a plurality of caster wheels;
- a plurality of lock members corresponding to the plurality of caster wheels, each lock member comprising a pivot component, an extension portion, and a brake portion coupled to the pivot component and the extension portion, the brake portion being pivotably mounted via the pivot component to permit the brake portion to pivot relative to a respective caster wheel, the extension portion extending from the brake portion in a direction opposite the pivot component;
- and
- a movable lock plate coupled to the extension portion of each of the plurality of lock members, wherein the movable lock plate is translatable to pivot the brake portion of each of the plurality of lock members about the respective pivot component between a locked position in which a respective brake portion engages with the respective caster wheel and an unlocked position in which the respective brake portion is disengaged with the respective caster wheel.
A caster assembly for use with a surgical console, the caster assembly comprising:
- a base frame;
- a caster comprising:
- a caster support coupled to the surgical console;
- a wheel support rotatably coupled to the caster support, wherein the wheel support selectively swivels relative to the caster support;
- a direction locking mechanism comprising a keyway;
- and
- a caster wheel rotatably coupled to the wheel support;
- a key extending between a first end and a second end, wherein the first end extends through the keyway of the direction locking mechanism of the caster, wherein the key is rotatable between a direction locked position in which the caster support and the wheel support are coupled together to prevent swivel of the wheel support relative to the caster support and a direction unlocked position in which the caster support and the wheel support are spaced apart to permit swivel of the wheel support relative to the caster support;
- a linkage coupled to the key, wherein the linkage is spaced apart from the keyway;
- and
- a pedal coupled to the linkage via a linkage pivot component disposed in an elongated slot of the pedal, wherein the pedal is coupled to the base frame by a linear guide that constrains motion of the pedal to vertical translation relative to the base frame, wherein the pedal is translatable relative to the base frame to rotate the linkage (i) to rotate the key toward the direction locked position, and (ii) to rotate the key toward the direction unlocked position.
A caster assembly for use with a surgical console, the caster assembly comprising:
- a first and second caster, each caster comprising:
- a caster support coupled to the surgical console;
- a wheel support rotatably coupled to the caster support, wherein the wheel support selectively swivels relative to the caster support;
- a direction locking mechanism comprising a keyway;
- and
- a caster wheel rotatably coupled to the wheel support;
- a key extending between a first end and a second end, wherein the first end extends through the keyway of the direction locking mechanism of the first caster and the second end extends through the keyway of the direction locking mechanism of the second caster, wherein the key is rotatable between a direction locked position in which the caster support and the wheel support of each caster is coupled together to prevent swivel of the wheel support relative to the caster support and a direction unlocked position in which the caster support and the wheel support of each caster are spaced apart to permit swivel of the wheel support relative to the caster support;
- a first pedal rotatably coupled to the key, wherein the first pedal is movable (i) to rotate the key toward the direction locked position, and (ii) to rotate the key toward the direction unlocked position;
- a first lock member and a second lock member corresponding to the caster wheel of the first and second caster, each lock member comprising a pivot component, an extension portion, and a brake portion coupled to the pivot component and the extension portion, the brake portion being pivotably mounted via the pivot component to permit the brake portion to pivot relative to the caster, the extension portion extending from the brake portion in a direction opposite the pivot component;
- and
- a second pedal coupled to the extension portion of the first and second lock members, wherein movement of the second pedal pivots the brake portion of the first and second lock members about the respective pivot component between a locked position in which a respective brake portion engages with a respective caster wheel and an unlocked position in which the respective brake portion is disengaged with the respective caster wheel.
