Bed rail assembly

A method of providing a portable bed rail for a user comprising the steps of:

• a) positioning a user support member of a bed rail assembly on a first longitudinally extending side of a mattress, the mattress positioned on a bed frame, the user support member comprising a hand grip portion;
• b) positioning a mattress securing member of the bed rail assembly on an opposed second longitudinally extending side of the mattress, the mattress securing member having a lower end and an upper end;
• c) securing the bed rail assembly to the mattress by securing the user support member at a fixed distance from the mattress securing member with the user support member abutting the first longitudinally extending side of the mattress and the mattress securing member abutting the second longitudinally extending side of the mattress;
• and
• d) positionally fixing the bed rail assembly on the bed frame by
• i) wrapping a first flexible member that is connected to the user support member around a first portion of the bed frame, and
• ii) wrapping a second flexible member that is connected to the mattress securing member around a second portion of the bed frame.
