Abstract
A method includes a user equipment (UE) receiving, from a first transmission reception point (TRP) on a first carrier, a synchronization signal (SS) and at least a physical broadcast channel (PBCH). The UE performs a random access channel (RACH) procedure with a second TRP on a second carrier in accordance with configuration information from at least the PBCH. The UE on the second carrier establishes a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the second TRP.
Claims17
A method, comprising:
- receiving, by a user equipment (UE) in an IDLE mode from a first network entity on a first carrier, a synchronization signal (SS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
- receiving, by the UE in the IDLE mode from the first network entity, a system information block (SIB) on the first carrier, the SIB including first configuration information related to a random access preamble;
- transmitting, by the UE in the IDLE mode to a second network entity different from the first network entity, the random access preamble on a second carrier in accordance with the first configuration information in the SIB;
- and
- establishing, by the UE on the second carrier, a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the second network entity, wherein the UE is in the IDLE mode prior to initiating establishment of the RRC connection with the second network entity.

A method, comprising:
- transmitting, by a first network entity to a user equipment (UE) in an IDLE mode on a first carrier, a synchronization signal (SS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
- transmitting, by the first network entity to the UE in the IDLE mode, a system information block (SIB) on the first carrier, the SIB including first configuration information related to a random access preamble;
- receiving from the UE in the IDLE mode, by a second network entity different from the first network entity, the random access preamble on a second carrier in accordance with the first configuration information in the SIB;
- and
- establishing, by the second network entity on the second carrier, a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the UE, wherein the UE is in the IDLE mode prior to initiating establishment of the RRC connection with the second network entity.
2 more elements
A user equipment (UE), comprising:
- at least one processor;
- and
- a non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing programming, the programming including instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the UE to perform operations including:
- receiving, by the UE in an IDLE mode from a first network entity on a first carrier, a synchronization signal (SS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
- receiving, by the UE in the IDLE mode from the first network entity, a system information block (SIB) on the first carrier, the SIB including first configuration information related to a random access preamble;
- transmitting, by the UE in the IDLE mode to a second network entity, the random access preamble on a second carrier in accordance with the first configuration information in the SIB;
- and
- establishing a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the second network entity on the second carrier, wherein the UE is in the IDLE mode prior to initiating establishment of the RRC connection with the second network entity.
5 more elements
A system, comprising:
- a first network entity;
- and
- a second network entity different from the first network entity,
- the first network entity being configured to:
- transmit, to a user equipment (UE) in an IDLE mode on a first carrier, a synchronization signal (SS) and a physical broadcast channel (PBCH);
- and
- transmit, to the UE in the IDLE mode, a system information block (SIB) on the first carrier, the SIB including first configuration information related to a random access preamble;
- the second network entity being configured to:
- receive, from the UE in the IDLE mode, the random access preamble on a second carrier in accordance with the first configuration information in the SIB;
- and
- establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the UE on the second carrier, wherein the UE is in the IDLE mode prior to initiating establishment of the RRC connection with the second network entity.
