Computing apparatus and method, board card, and computer readable storage medium

A computing device for processing a multi-bit width value for a fixed-point processor, wherein the fixed-point processor supports a lower bit width than a bit width of the multi-bit width value, the multi-bit width value comprises a higher bit portion and a lower bit portion, and the computing device comprises:

• an input circuit configured to receive the multi-bit width value and configuration information, wherein the configuration information comprises at least bit width information of the higher bit portion or the lower bit portion;
• a first component computing circuit configured to determine a scale factor according to the bit width information of the lower bit portion and perform a computation on the multi-bit width value using the scale factor to obtain a first component representing the higher bit portion of the multi-bit width value;
• a second component computing circuit configured to perform a computation according to the multi-bit width value and a value associated with at least the first component to obtain a second component representing the lower bit portion of the multi-bit width value;
• and
• an output circuit configured to output, to the fixed-point processor, at least one of the first component or the second component to be used as a substitute of the multi-bit width value, wherein a bit width of the first component or a bit width of the second component is smaller than the bit width of the multi-bit width value.
