Abstract
A method for controlling flow in a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) extraction system includes determining an operational characteristic of one or more residue gas compressors operating within the NGL extraction system and calculating a rate of closure for one or more throttle valves associated with the one or more residue gas compressors based on the operational characteristic determined. When a process upset in the NGL extraction system is detected, the one or more throttle valves are closed at the calculated rate of closure in response to detecting the process upset.
Claims20
A method, comprising:
- determining an operational characteristic of one or more residue gas compressors operating within a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) extraction system;
- calculating a rate of closure for one or more throttle valves associated with the one or more residue gas compressors based on the operational characteristic determined;
- detecting a process upset in the NGL extraction system;
- and
- closing the one or more throttle valves at the calculated rate of closure in response to detecting the process upset.
A system, comprising:
- memory to store non-transitory machine-readable instructions and data comprising operational data of one or more residue gas compressors operating within a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) extraction system;
- and
- one or more processors to access the memory and execute the non-transitory machine-readable instructions, the non-transitory machine-readable instructions causing the one or more processors to:
- determine an operational characteristic of the one or more residue gas compressors;
- calculate a rate of closure for one or more throttle valves associated with the one or more residue gas compressors based on the operational characteristic determined;
- detect a process upset in the NGL extraction system;
- and
- instruct the one or more throttle valves to close at the calculated rate of closure in response to detecting the process upset.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing computer executable instructions thereon, the instructions, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to:
- determine an operational characteristic of one or more residue gas compressors operating within a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) extraction system;
- calculate a rate of closure for one or more throttle valves associated with the one or more residue gas compressors based on the operational characteristic determined;
- detect a process upset in the NGL extraction system;
- and
- instruct the one or more throttle valves to close at the calculated rate of closure in response to detecting the process upset.
