Abstract
A patient monitoring sensor having a communication interface, through which the patient monitoring sensor can communicate with a monitor is provided. The patient monitoring sensor includes a light-emitting diode (LED) communicatively coupled to the communication interface and a detector, communicatively coupled to the communication interface, capable of detecting light. The patient monitoring sensor includes a layer of material is provided over the LED on the patient-side of the sensor to reduce transmission of heat therefrom to the skin of the patient.
Claims17
A sensor, comprising:
- a light-emitting diode (LED);
- a detector to detect light emitted by the LED;
- and
- a layer of material disposed over the LED on a patient-side of the sensor, wherein the layer of material reduces thermal transmission of the LED, and wherein the layer of material comprises a central portion having a greater thickness than an edge portion.
A sensor, comprising:
- a light-emitting diode (LED);
- a detector to detect light emitted by the LED;
- a bandage, wherein the bandage comprises a first surface and a second surface;
- and
- a layer of material disposed between the LED and the first surface of the bandage, wherein the layer of material reduces thermal transmission of the LED, and wherein the layer of material comprises a central portion having a greater thickness than an edge portion.
