Abstract
A process for converting amino sugar to fructose and ammonia using one enzyme. Also provided are compositions and enzymes for converting amino sugar to fructose and ammonia.
Claims14
A process for converting amino sugar to fructose and ammonia, the steps of which consist of:
- optionally hydrolyzing a biomaterial comprising amino sugars;
- and
- converting the amino sugars to fructose and ammonia via a single type of enzyme consisting of glucosamine-6-phosphate deaminase (GPDA), wherein the enzyme comprises the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- SEQ ID NO:33 and SEQ ID NO:35;
- and
- wherein the amino sugars are glucosamine.
3 more elements
An enzyme for converting glucosamine to fructose and ammonia, wherein the enzyme comprises the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- SEQ ID NO:33 and SEQ ID NO:35.
A composition for converting amino sugar to fructose and ammonia, comprising:
- water;
- an amino sugar;
- glucosamine-6-phosphate deaminase (GPDA) comprising the amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:
- SEQ ID NO:33 and SEQ ID NO:35;
- wherein the amino sugar is glucosamine.
