Abstract
A consumer product with controlled release of an active material is provided, wherein said active material is encapsulated in a biodegradable core-shell microcapsule composition, wherein the shell of the microcapsule is composed of a biopolymer.
Claims11
A consumer product with controlled release of an active material comprising
- (a) a consumer product base;
- and
- (b) a biodegradable core-shell microcapsule composition,
- (i) the core of the biodegradable core-shell microcapsule comprising at least one active material, and
- (ii) the shell of the biodegradable core-shell microcapsule, which is made of a continuous polymeric phase comprising at least one biopolymer cross-linked with one or more cross-linking agents, the one or more cross-linking agents is a polyisocyanate in combination with tannic acid and optionally a multifunctional aldehyde,
- wherein said microcapsule retains the at least one active material for at least four weeks at elevated temperature in the consumer product base and releases the at least one active material in response to at least one triggering condition,
- wherein the weight ratio between the at least one biopolymer and the one or more cross-linking agents is in the range of 60:1 to 3:10, and
- wherein the shell of the biodegradable core-shell microcapsule is free of a spray dry carrier.
