Intraocular lens system

A lens comprising:

• an anterior surface comprising a rotationally symmetrical polynomial conic surface;
• a posterior surface comprising a rotationally symmetrical polynomial conic surface;
• and
• a plurality of haptics having a symmetrical design and comprising ciliary-sulcus-engaging surfaces configured to position the lens within a ciliary sulcus of an eye and align the lens with an optical axis of the eye;
• wherein at least one of the anterior surface and the posterior surface are aspherical surfaces configured to induce spherical aberration while minimizing optical aberration and thereby provide for a continuum of retinal images to be focused at an area of a retina of the eye between two retinal eccentricities, and
• the anterior surface and the posterior surface are configured to converge light onto a posterior light-diverging intraocular lens of an intraocular lens system, wherein the posterior light-diverging intraocular lens comprises:
• a second anterior surface;
• a second posterior surface;
• and
• a plurality of posterior haptics having a symmetrical design and comprising capsular-bag- engaging surfaces configured to position the posterior light-diverging intraocular lens in a capsular bag of the eye and align the posterior light-diverging intraocular lens with the optical axis of the eye.
