Abstract
An in vivo apparatus for determining activity of an enzyme including a reservoir, a predetermined quantity of a reactant contained with the reservoir, and a working electrode having at least one aperture. The reactant is configured to be released from the reservoir through the at least one aperture of the working electrode. The working electrode is configured to detect a product of a reaction of the reactant with an enzyme and produce a signal proportional to the activity of the enzyme.
Claims11
A sensor for detecting acetylcholinesterase activity in vivo, the sensor comprising:
- a reservoir containing acetylthiocholine;
- a membrane suitable for controlling diffusion of acetylthiocholine disposed on the reservoir;
- a working electrode disposed on the membrane, the working electrode comprising carbon nanotubes, and
- a sensing layer disposed on the working electrode, the sensing layer capable of reacting with acetylthiocholine from the reservoir to generate a signal at the working electrode proportional to acetylcholinesterase activity, the sensing layer comprising acetylcholinesterase.
