Abstract
A toner particle includes a binder resin, a colorant, and a wax. The binder resin includes an amorphous polyester resin and a crystalline polyester resin. The amorphous polyester resin includes, as monomer units, a first monomer having a pendant group, terephthalic acid, and ethylene glycol.
Claims15
A toner particle comprising:
- a binder resin comprising an amorphous polyester resin and a crystalline polyester resin, wherein the amorphous polyester resin comprises, as monomer units, a first monomer having a pendant group, terephthalic acid, and ethylene glycol, wherein the terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol are derived from recycled polyethylene terephthalate, wherein the amorphous polyester resin has a melt viscosity at 120° C. ranging from 413 Pa·s to 848 Pa·s, and wherein the amorphous polyester resin has a glass transition temperature ranging from 50° C. to 80° C., and wherein the binder resin has a calorific value (Tg2nd+dH) of 18.5 J/g to 19.5 J/g, measured by modified differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC);
- a colorant;
- and
- a wax.

A method for producing a toner particle comprising a binder resin comprising an amorphous polyester resin and a crystalline polyester resin, a colorant, and a wax,
- the method comprising:
- causing polycondensation components comprising a first monomer having a pendant group to react with recycled polyethylene terephthalate, to obtain the amorphous polyester resin, wherein the amorphous polyester resin has a melt viscosity at 120° C. ranging from 413 Pa·s to 848 Pa·s, and wherein the amorphous polyester resin has a glass transition temperature ranging from 50° C. to 80° C., and wherein the binder resin has a calorific value (Tg2nd+dH) of 18.5 J/g to 19.5 J/g, measured by modified differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC);
- and
- obtaining the toner particle from raw materials including the amorphous polyester resin, the crystalline polyester resin, the colorant, and the wax.
