Abstract
The disclosure generally relates to poly alpha-1,3-glucan compositions and articles containing them. In particular interest is comprising poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester derivatives. The poly alpha-1,3-glucan derivatives are useful in thermoprocesses and in particular, injection molding processes.
Claims12
A product comprising a poly alpha-1,3-glucan compound consisting of one poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester polymer chain represented by the following structure:
- wherein the poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester polymer chain is linear;
- wherein:
- (i) n is at least 6 and (ii) each R1 is independently H or an acyl group, wherein the acyl group is:
- (a) a benzoyl;
- or
- (b)
- wherein “a” is 7 to 24;
- wherein the poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester compound has a degree of substitution of 0.3 to 3.0;
- wherein 100% of the glycosidic linkages of the poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester compound are alpha-1,3 linkages,
- wherein a poly alpha-1,3-glucan used to produce the poly alpha-1,3-glucan ester compound is linear/unbranched;
- and
- wherein the product is a laundry detergent or a dishwashing detergent, and wherein the product further comprises at least one enzyme.
