Drum washer with gravity assist drainage

A rotary drum filter comprising:

• a rotatably mounted drum shell capable of being rotated through a slurry, the drum shell having an outer surface and a plurality of drainage holes extending through the outer surface;
• a plurality of grid holders extending longitudinally on and connected to the outer surface and around a circumference of the drum shell at arcuate, spaced intervals to define multiple arcuate drainage sectors, each grid holder having an end attached to the outer surface and a distal end;
• a plurality of divider plates extending diagonally between adjacent grid holders, and conforming to a curvature of the outer surface, dividing each arcuate drainage sector, into separate sections;
• each section including one or more drainage holes, the plurality of divider plates including at least two adjacent divider plates diagonally angled in opposing directions such that the two adjacent divider plates are capable of directing liquid on the outer surface towards the same, at least one drainage hole, as the rotatably mounted drum shell rotates;
• a plurality of grid segments, each grid segment extending between and connected to distal ends of adjacent grid holders, and disposed above a respective plurality of divider plates;
• and
• a filter medium, disposed around the drum shell, over the plurality of grid segments.
