Eyewear charging case using charge pins as communication path

A method for use with an eyewear device and a case for the eyewear device, the eyewear device comprising a temple with a conductive interface, the case comprising a housing having an interior wall, a multi-purpose interface supported by the interior wall with at least one contact positioned thereon to couple with the conductive interface of the temple, and circuitry including a processor coupled to the at least one contact, the method comprising:

• detecting connection of the conductive interface of the temple of the eyewear device with the multi-purpose interface supported by the interior wall of the case;
• and
• in response to detecting connection of the conductive interface of the temple of the eyewear device with the multi-purpose interface supported by the interior wall of the case at least one of providing an electrical charge at the multi-purpose interface of the case to the conductive interface of the temple of the eyewear device or exchanging data with the eyewear device via the multi-purpose interface and the conductive interface.
