Heavy duty silt fence using nonwoven silt retention fabric

The silt fence comprising:

• a plurality of spaced stakes;
• and
• a silt fence fabric coupled to the spaced stakes, wherein the silt fence fabric is a nonwoven needle punched fabric, wherein the silt fence includes at least one vertical transverstivity cutoff element that prevents water from migrating through the silt fence fabric from vertically above the transverstivity cutoff element within the silt fence fabric to vertically below the transverstivity cutoff element, wherein the silt fence fabric is asymmetrical dual sided needle punched, wherein the silt fence has a downstream side and an upstream side when installed and a side of the silt fence fabric facing the downstream side is punched more than a side of the silt fence fabric facing the upstream side.

A silt fence comprising:

• a plurality of spaced stakes;
• and
• a silt fence fabric coupled to the spaced stakes, wherein the silt fence fabric is a nonwoven needle punched fabric, wherein the silt fence fabric is asymmetrical dual sided needle punched, wherein the silt fence has a downstream side and an upstream side when installed and a side of the silt fence fabric facing the downstream side is punched 2-6 times more than a side of the silt fence fabric facing the upstream side.
