Abstract
Proposed is a photocatalytic complex. The photocatalytic complex includes a photocatalyst, and an iodine compound layer formed on a surface of the photocatalyst to cover the same and containing an iodine compound. The present disclosure enables selective degradation of hydrophilic volatile organic compounds by the use of the photocatalyst coated with the iodine compound.

A photocatalytic complex consisting of:
- a photocatalyst;
- an iodine compound layer formed on a surface of the photocatalyst to cover the same and containing an iodine compound;
- and
- a water layer on a surface of the photocatalytic complex covering the same,
- wherein the iodine compound comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of periodic acid (HIO4) and periodic acid hydrate (HIO4·2H2O).

A photocatalytic system comprising:
- a substrate;
- and
- a photocatalytic complex layer formed on the substrate and including a plurality of photocatalytic complexes,
- wherein each of the photocatalytic complexes consists of:
- a photocatalyst;
- an iodine compound layer formed on a surface of the photocatalyst to cover the same and containing an iodine compound;
- and
- a water layer on a surface of the photocatalytic complex covering the same,
- wherein the iodine compound comprises at least one selected from the group consisting of periodic acid (HIO4) and periodic acid hydrate (HIO4·2H2O).
