Abstract
A system for controlled sympathectomy procedures is disclosed. A system for controlled micro ablation procedures is disclosed. Methods for performing a controlled surgical procedure are disclosed. A system for performing controlled surgical procedures in a minimally invasive manner is disclosed. Systems and methods for accessing target tissues as part of a neuromodulation procedure from within a lumen are disclosed.
Claims20
A tool comprising:
- an elongate member comprising a distal tip and a control end, the elongate member configured to extend from an entry site on a body into a lumen within the body;
- two or more probes coupled with the distal tip of the elongate member, the two or more probes being configured for deployment responsive to actuation at the control end;
- wherein each of the two or more probes comprises (i) a probe tip configured to penetrate at least one of into and through a wall of the lumen upon deployment and (ii) one or more electrodes configured to at least one of monitor and alter electrophysiological activity;
- and
- wherein the control end of the elongate member is configured:
- to deploy a first one of the two or more probes such that at least one of the one or more electrodes of the first probe is proximate a first site;
- to deploy a second one of the two or more probes such that at least one of the one or more electrodes of the second probe is proximate a second site;
- to reference electrophysiological signals captured from the first site to electrophysiological signals captured at a third site to generate first referenced electrophysiological signals;
- to reference electrophysiological signals captured from the second site to electrophysiological signals captured at the third site to generate second referenced electrophysiological signals;
- to process the first referenced electrophysiological signals and the second referenced electrophysiological signals to determine electrophysiological activity originating at the first site, wherein processing the first referenced electrophysiological signals and the second referenced electrophysiological signals comprises determining a state of completion of a surgical procedure at the first site by removing dominant content of the second referenced electrophysiological signals captured at the second site from dominant content of the first referenced electrophysiological signals captured at the first site and based at least in part on monitoring for one or more population synchrony changes of the first referenced electrophysiological signals and the second referenced electrophysiological signals;
- and
- to control at least one of the one or more electrodes of the first probe to apply a stimulating train of one or more pulses to the first site based at least in part in the determined state of completion of the surgical procedure at the first site.
