Abstract
A .45-70 shotshell is made using a .45-70 shotshell base and a .410 shotshell hull. The hull is received and retained in the shotshell base. The shotshell base may be formed from a .45-70 rifle cartridge.

A method for manufacturing a .45-70 shotshell comprising the steps of:
- (a) providing a .45-70 shotshell base;
- (b) inserting a .410 hull into the .45-70 shotshell base;
- and
- (c) retaining the inserted .410 hull in the .45-70 shot shell base.
