Abstract
The present invention relates to compositions comprising an RXR agonist, an RAR agonist, or a dual RXR/RAR agonist. The present invention further relates to methods of using the agonist compositions for treating or preventing dementia and cancer. In some embodiments, the dementia comprises Alzheimer's disease. In some embodiments, the cancer comprises leukemia.

A compound of formula (3), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, solvate, hydrate or stereoisomer thereof:
- wherein X30-X32 are each independently N or CR310, and at least one of X30-X32 is CR310;
- wherein R30-R38 are each independently hydrogen or —C1-C6 alkyl;
- wherein R39 and R310 are each independently selected from the group consisting of:
- hydrogen, halogen, —OH, and —CO2H;
- and
- wherein n is 0.
