Coating system and method

A coated article comprising:

• a substrate comprising one or more outer surfaces, wherein the substrate is formed from a matrix polymer;
• one or more adhesive tie layers disposed along at least a portion of the one or more outer surfaces, wherein each of the one or more adhesive tie layers is formed from an adhesive material comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane;
• and
• one or more coating layers disposed above the one or more adhesive tie layers, the one or more adhesive tie layers providing an adhesive interface between the substrate and the one or more coating layers,
• wherein at least one of the one or more coating layers comprises an acrylic, and wherein an outer one of the one or more coating layers comprises a blend of acrylic and a fluoride-containing polymer.

A coated article comprising:

• a substrate comprising one or more outer surfaces, wherein the substrate is formed from a matrix polymer comprising a polyurethane-based polymer;
• one or more adhesive tie layers disposed along at least a portion of the one or more outer surfaces, wherein each of the one or more adhesive tie layers is formed from an adhesive material comprising a thermoplastic polyurethane;
• and
• one or more coating layers disposed above the one or more adhesive tie layers, the one or more adhesive tie layers providing an adhesive interface between the substrate and the one or more coating layers.
