Abstract
A first network node, operating in a communications network that includes a second network node, can receive a message from the second network node. The message can include a request to page a communication device and a single-network slice selection assistance information, S-NSSAI, and/or a public land mobile network, PLMN, identifier, ID, associated with the request. The first network node can determine whether to page the communication device based on the S-NSSAI and/or the PLMN ID.
Claims18
A method of operating a first network node operating in a communications network that includes a second network node, the method comprising:
- receiving a message from the second network node, the message including a request to page a communication device and a single-network slice selection assistance information, S-NSSAI, and/or a public land mobile network, PLMN, identifier, ID, associated with the request;
- and
- determining whether to page the communication device based on the S-NSSAI and/or the PLMN ID, wherein determining whether to page the communication device comprises:
- determining a partition associated with the S-NSSAI or the PLMN ID;
- determining an amount of available resources on the partition;
- and
- determining whether to page the communication device based on whether the amount of available resources exceeds a predetermined threshold amount.
A method of operating a second network node operating in a communications network that includes a first network node, the method comprising:
- determining to page a communication device regarding a service;
- determining single-network slice selection assistance information, S-NSSAI, and/or a public land mobile network, PLMN, identifier, ID, associated with the service;
- and
- transmitting a paging request that includes the S-NSSAI or the PLMN ID to the first network node;
- and
- determining that the first network node will not page the communication device based on (i) a received indication from the first network node or (ii) expiration of a predetermined amount of time without receiving a response.
