Abstract
A method for sorting of a vector in a processor is provided that includes performing, by the processor in response to a vector sort instruction, sorting of values stored in lanes of the vector to generate a sorted vector, wherein the values are sorted in an order indicated by the vector sort instruction, and storing the sorted vector in a storage location.
Claims20
A device comprising:
- a first comparator configured to compare a first vector element to a second vector element to generate a first comparison result;
- a second comparator configured to compare the first vector element to a third vector element to generate a second comparison result;
- a processor coupled to the first comparator and coupled to the second comparator, wherein the processor is configured to:
- determine a first count value for the first vector element based on the first comparison result and the second comparison result;
- and
- store the first vector element into a first lane of an output vector based on the first count value.

A method comprising:
- comparing, by a first comparator, a first vector element to a second vector element to generate a first comparison result;
- comparing, by a second comparator, the first vector element to a third vector element to generate a second comparison result;
- determining, by a processor coupled to the first comparator and coupled to the second comparator, a first count value for the first vector element based on the first comparison result and the second comparison result;
- and
- storing, by the processor, the first vector element into a first lane of an output vector based on the first count value.

A device comprising:
- a first comparator configured to compare a first vector element to a second vector element to generate a first comparison result;
- a second comparator configured to compare the first vector element to a third vector element to generate a second comparison result;
- a processor coupled to the first comparator and coupled to the second comparator, wherein the processor is configured to:
- determine a first count value for the first vector element in response to the first comparison result and the second comparison result;
- and
- store the first vector element into a first lane of an output vector using the first count value.
