Image forming apparatus and varnish applying apparatus

An image forming system comprising:

• an image forming unit configured to form a toner image on a recording material, the toner image including a black toner image using black toner containing carbon black, and a color toner image using color toner containing no carbon black,
• a varnish applying unit configured to apply varnish to the recording material on which the toner image is formed by the image forming unit;
• a conveying unit configured to convey the recording material to which the varnish is applied by the varnish applying unit;
• and
• an irradiation unit configured to irradiate the varnish on the recording material with light to cure the varnish on the recording material during conveyance of the recording material by the conveying unit,
• wherein intensity of the light irradiated by the irradiation unit to the varnish on a first recording material having the black toner image is lower than intensity of the light irradiated by the irradiation unit to the varnish on a second recording material having the color toner image without the black toner image, and
• wherein a conveying speed of the first recording material by the conveying unit in a period in which the varnish on the first recording material is irradiated with light is slower than a conveying speed of the second recording material by the conveying unit in a period in which the varnish on the second recording material is irradiated with light.
