Abstract
A method, including the actions of obtaining access to a virtual reality system; activating a cochlear implant such that the cochlear implant evokes a hearing percept based on first input; and receiving second input from the virtual reality system in temporal proximity with the evocation of the hearing percept based on the first input, wherein the cochlear implant evokes a hearing percept based on the first input, and the second input is correlated with the first input.
Claims29
A method, comprising:
- obtaining access to a virtual reality system;
- activating a hearing device such that a hearing percept is evoked in a person due to the activation of the hearing device that is based on first input;
- and
- receiving second input from the virtual reality system in temporal proximity with the evocation of the hearing percept, wherein
- the second input is correlated with the first input, and
- the second input is visual and is generated by the virtual reality system and is the only visual input received by the person.

A method, comprising:
- obtaining access to a virtual reality system;
- activating a hearing device such that a hearing percept is evoked in a person due to the activation of the hearing device that is based on first input;
- and
- receiving second input from the virtual reality system in temporal proximity with the evocation of the hearing percept, wherein
- the second input is correlated with the first input, and
- the action of receiving the second input from the virtual reality system occurs within 5 seconds of the evocation of the hearing percept.
3 more elements
A method, comprising:
- obtaining access to a virtual reality system;
- activating a hearing device such that a hearing percept is evoked in a person due to the activation of the hearing device that is based on first input;
- and
- receiving second input from the virtual reality system in temporal proximity with the evocation of the hearing percept, wherein
- the second input is correlated with the first input, and
- the method is a method that result in improving the recipient's ability to determine that a sound is indicative of a sound made by a moving object vs. a static object and vis-a-versa.
