Abstract

A spa system including an operating mode that results in efficient and/or reduced electrical energy consumption while ensuring the use temperature is achieved no matter the time and/or date at which the user desires to enjoy the spa. The operating mode described herein obtains information indicating a time at which a user may like to enjoy the spa, precisely determines a time it takes to heat water in the spa from an ambient temperature to the use temperature, and causes the spa pump and/or heater to begin the process of heating the water to the use temperature at least the determined time prior to the time at which the user may begin enjoying the spa. A spa may not achieve peak efficiency without a spa operating mode that calculates the estimated time to heat a spa from an ambient temperature to the use temperature.

Dependent claims

A system for determining a run schedule of a spa, the system comprising:

memory that stores computer-executable instructions;
and
a processor in communication with the memory, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to:
process an indication of a user spa schedule, ambient temperature data, and spa data, wherein the user spa schedule comprises a use temperature and a time for use of the spa;
determine, based on the processed ambient temperature data and the processed spa data, a spa heating curve;
generate, based on the processed user spa schedule and the determined spa heating curve, at least one energy savings option, each of the at least one energy savings option comprising a spa run schedule having an initial heating time;
and
cause, when one of the at least one energy savings option is selected, the spa to activate at least one of a pump of the spa or a heater of the spa at the initial heating time of the selected energy savings option.

A computer-implemented method for determining a run schedule of a spa, the computer-implemented method comprising:

receiving an indication of,
a user spa schedule,
ambient temperature data, and
spa data comprising an insulation coefficient of the spa,
wherein the user spa schedule comprises a use temperature and a time for use of the spa:
determining, based on the received ambient temperature data and the received spa data, a spa heating curve;
estimating, based on the received indication of the user spa schedule and the determined spa heating curve, a spa run schedule, wherein the spa run schedule comprises an initial heating time;
and
causing the spa to activate at least one of a pump of the spa or a heater of the spa at the initial heating time.
