Controllable electrical outlet with a controlled wired output

A method to control a controllable electrical outlet, the method comprising:

• receiving, by control circuitry from operatively coupled sensor circuitry, information indicative of an electrical signature of an electrical load device coupled to a controllable electrical outlet;
• comparing, by the control circuitry, the received information indicative of the electrical signature of the electrical load device to data representative of each of a plurality of reference electrical signatures stored in operatively coupled memory circuitry;
• wherein each of the plurality of reference electrical signatures is associated with respective ones of a plurality of electrical load devices;
• determining, by the control circuitry, whether the data representative of the received electrical signature compares favorably to data representative of one of the plurality of reference electrical signatures;
• and
• responsive to the determination that the data representative of the received electrical signature does compare favorably to data representative of a selected reference electrical signature included in the plurality of reference electrical signatures:
• retrieving, by the control circuitry from the operatively coupled memory circuitry, one or more rules associated with the electrical load device that corresponds to the selected reference electrical signature;
• and
• controlling, by the control circuitry, one or more electrical parameters of the controllable electrical outlet using the retrieved one or more rules associated with the electrical load device that corresponds to the selected reference electrical signature.

A non-transitory, machine-readable, storage device that includes instructions that, when executed by control circuitry disposed in a controllable electrical outlet, cause the control circuitry to:

• receive, from operatively coupled sensor circuitry, information indicative of an electrical signature of an electrical load device coupled to the controllable electrical outlet;
• compare the received information indicative of the electrical signature of the electrical load device to data representative of each of a plurality of reference electrical signatures stored in operatively coupled memory circuitry;
• wherein each of the plurality of reference electrical signatures is associated with respective ones of a plurality of electrical load devices;
• determine whether the data representative of the received electrical signature compares favorably to data representative of one of the plurality of reference electrical signatures;
• and
• responsive to the determination that the data representative of the received electrical signature does compare favorably to data representative of a selected reference electrical signature included in the plurality of reference electrical signatures:
• retrieve, from the operatively coupled memory circuitry, one or more rules associated with the electrical load device that corresponds to the selected reference electrical signature;
• and
• control one or more electrical parameters of the controllable electrical outlet using the retrieved one or more rules associated with the electrical load device that corresponds to the selected reference electrical signature.
