## Abstract

Disclosed herein are compositions and methods related to a packaging laminate comprising: a first polymeric layer formed form a composition including polypropylene copolymer and/or a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin; and a second polymeric layer formed from a composition including a high density polyethylene (HDPE) resin, a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) resin, a low density polyethylene (LDPE), and/or LDPE/HDPE copolymer with a coextruded ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH) and compatibilizer. Recyclable packaging containers formed of the packaging laminates are also disclosed.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A recyclable laminate comprising:
a first layer, constituting an outer layer of the packaging laminate and having a first thickness ranging from about 0.008 MIL to about 2 MIL, formed from a first composition comprising a polypropylene copolymer and at least one of linear low density polyethylene and low density polyethylene, wherein the polypropylene copolymer is present in an amount of 35 percent and 55 percent by weight of the first layer; and
a second layer, constituting an inner layer of the packaging laminate and having a second thickness, formed from a second composition comprising a plastomer, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, wherein the second thickness is greater than the first thickness, and wherein the second thickness ranges from about 2 MIL to about 6 MIL.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The recyclable laminate of claim 1, wherein the polypropylene copolymer is polypropylene-ethylene copolymer.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The recyclable laminate of claim 1, wherein the second composition further comprises high density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene/high density polyethylene copolymer, or combinations thereof.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The recyclable laminate of claim 1, comprised in a packaging container and further comprising a degassing valve attached thereto.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The recyclable laminate of claim 1, wherein the second thickness ranges from about 2 MIL to about 5 MIL.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The recyclable laminate of claim 1, wherein the first layer has a first side and a second side, wherein the second side is adjacent to the second layer, and wherein the second side comprises reverse printing.

### Claim 7

A recyclable packaging container formed from a laminate, wherein the laminate comprises:
an outer layer having a first thickness ranging from about 0.008 MIL to about 2 MIL, a first side and a second side, and formed from a first composition, wherein the first composition comprises polypropylene copolymer and polyethylene, wherein the polypropylene copolymer is present in an amount of 35 percent and 55 percent by weight of the first layer; and
an inside layer having second thickness greater than the first thickness and formed from a second composition, wherein the second thickness ranges from about 2 MIL to about 6 MIL, wherein the inside layer is adjacent to the second side of the outer layer, and wherein the second composition comprises a resin selected from the group consisting of a high density polyethylene, linear low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, low density polyethylene/high density polyethylene copolymer, and combinations thereof, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, and wherein the ethyl vinyl alcohol and compatibilizer are present in the second composition in a 1:1 ratio.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The recyclable packaging container of claim 7, further comprising a degassing valve attached to the first side of the outer layer.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The recyclable packaging container of claim 7, wherein the second thickness is about 2 MIL to about 5 MIL.

### Claim 10 (depends on 7)

The recyclable packaging container of claim 7, wherein the second thickness is about 2.5 MIL to about 4 MIL.

### Claim 11 (depends on 7)

The recyclable packaging container of claim 7, wherein the second side comprises reverse printing.

### Claim 12

A recyclable packaging container for perishable produces formed of a laminate, wherein the laminate comprises:
a first layer, constituting an outer layer of the packaging laminate having a first thickness ranging from about 0.008 MIL to about 2 MIL, a first side, and a second side, formed from a first composition comprising a polypropylene-ethylene copolymer and at least one of linear low density polyethylene and low density polyethylene, wherein the polypropylene copolymer is present in an amount of 35 percent and 55 percent by weight of the first layer; and
a second layer, constituting an inner layer of the packaging laminate and having a second thickness, wherein the second thickness ranges from about 2 MIL to about 6 MIL wherein the second layer faces the second side of the first layer, formed from a second composition comprising a plastomer, ethyl vinyl alcohol, and a compatibilizer, wherein the second thickness is greater than the first thickness,
wherein a degassing valve is attached to the first side, and wherein the degassing valve is formed of high density polyethylene, medium density polyethylene, low density polyethylene, or combinations thereof.
