Method for manufacturing a product made from polyaryletherketone and corresponding product

A process for the manufacture of an article by compression forming, comprising:

• providing a semicrystalline or crystallizable composition comprising at least one polyaryletherketone, said composition having a glass transition temperature Tg and a melting point Tm;
• providing a compression forming means comprising a mold and a means of compression of the mold, the mold having at least one cavity and at least one removable wall capable of closing said at least one cavity, the means of compression being capable of exerting a pressure on at least said removable wall;
• preparing, in a preparation stage, the composition in a molten state in said at least one cavity, the mold having a temperature T0 at the end of the preparation stage;
• compressing and cooling the composition in the molten state in said at least one cavity, the mold being cooled from the temperature T0 down to a final temperature Tf of less than or equal to (Tg+30)° C., to form a compression-formed article;
• and
• removing the compression-formed article from the mold;
• in which the composition has a melting point less than 340° C.,
• in which a melt flow index of the composition has a value ranging from 1 to 100 cm3/10 min, at 380° C. and under a load of 5 kg.
