Abstract
Devices and methods are described for preparing, managing, and/or administering metered doses of substances for vaporized administration. In some embodiments, dose cartridges comprising at least one botanical substance include a heating element integrated into the cartridge in close contact with the botanical substance. In some embodiments, cartridge-mounted doses are stored in a magazine, optionally in carousel form, before use. Transport of a cartridge from a magazine to an electrically operated vaporizing chamber which activates the heating element is provided by a mechanical pickup means.
Claims33
A dose cartridge dispensing assembly comprising a dose cartridge dispenser which stores a plurality of dose cartridges therein;
- the dose cartridge dispenser comprising:
- a housing including at least one aperture leading into and out of an inner volume defined by said housing;
- and
- at least one administration element configured to be moved outwards from said housing to be completely removed from said housing and carry a dose cartridge out from said dose cartridge dispenser, and to be inserted back into said dose cartridge dispenser via said at least one aperture;
- wherein said at least one administration element is configured to interlock a first dose cartridge in a manner which does not allow engagement of said at least one administration element to another, second dose cartridge at the same time, wherein the dose cartridge dispenser is configured to enable removal of said second dose cartridge from said dose cartridge dispenser only after said first dose cartridge is released from said at least one administration element,
- wherein each of said plurality of dose cartridges comprises an electrically resistive heating element configured to heat a pallet from which at least one active substance is configured to be vaporized,
- each of said resistive heating elements comprises a U-shape with two ends around a hollow in which a respective pallet is positioned.
A method of dispensing a dose cartridge from a dose cartridge dispenser for use with an inhaler device, the dose cartridge dispenser comprising a housing in which a plurality of dose cartridges are stored, the method comprising:
- returning, via an administration element, a dose cartridge that was used in the inhaler device back into said housing of said dose cartridge dispenser;
- only after said used dose cartridge is returned into said housing by said administration element, removing, via said same administration element, a second, unused dose cartridge out from said housing of said dose cartridge dispenser and into said inhaler device for use;
- wherein said removing comprises completely removing from said housing said administration element while said administration element is interlocked with said second, unused dose cartridge,
- wherein each of said plurality of dose cartridges comprises an electrically resistive heating element configured to heat a pallet from which at least one active substance is configured to be vaporized,
- each of said resistive heating elements comprises a U-shape with two ends around a hollow in which a respective pallet is positioned.
