Image processing apparatus and image processing method

An image processing apparatus comprising:

• an authenticator that performs user authentication;
• an apparatus information generator that generates apparatus information including identification information to identify the image processing apparatus;
• a display that displays a screen for displaying the apparatus information generated by the apparatus information generator;
• and
• a job controller that receives setting information related to a function setting concerning a scan job to read an image on a document set on the image processing apparatus via a network from a communication terminal that reads the apparatus information displayed on the display, the job controller further executing the scan job based on the setting information that has been received,
• wherein the setting information includes an e-mail address to which scan data, obtained by reading the image of the document, is sent,
• the authenticator receives user authentication information from the communication terminal in a non-contact manner and performs the user authentication after a function selection screen is displayed, the function selection screen to receive a function selection from a plurality of functions, including a copy function, and
• when the authenticator succeeds in the user authentication, the display displays the screen for displaying the apparatus information.
