Lock packing prevention for a bit

An adapter board comprising:

• an upper moldboard interfacing portion include a rear surface, a front surface, and a series of thru-apertures extending from the front surface to the rear surface, each aperture of the series of thru-apertures including a ramped portion extending rearwardly from the front surface and terminating short of the rear surface;
• a lower tool bit attachment portion, terminating in a lower adapter board free end with a bottom surface, and including a top surface disposed adjacent the rear surface of the upper moldboard interfacing portion, also defining a series of thru-holes extending from the top surface to the bottom surface, one of the series of thru-holes being in communication with one of the series of thru-apertures;
• and
• a plurality of bushings disposed in the series of thru-holes.

A bit system, comprising:

• an adaptor board including:
• a moldboard interfacing portion include a first surface, a second surface, and a series of thru-apertures extending from the second surface to the first surface, each of the series of thru-apertures including a ramped portion extending from the second surface;
• a lower tool bit attachment portion, terminating in an adapter board free end with a third surface, and including a fourth surface disposed adjacent the first surface of the moldboard interfacing portion, also defining a series of thru-holes extending from the fourth surface to the third surface, each of the series of thru-holes being in communication with each of the series of thru-apertures;
• a plurality of bushings disposed in the series of thru-holes;
• and
• a plurality of retaining spring clips disposed in the series of thru-apertures.
