Abstract
In one embodiment, weld torch angle tools are provided to present an operator with the work angle and travel angle measured as taught in the weld point. The operator is presented with buttons to make small adjustments which the robot will move to in live updates to independently tune each angle. If the base plate is tilted, a workflow is provided to the operator to teach that tilt to the robot, allowing the measured angles and axes to be adjusted accordingly. This allows the operator to accurately dial in the exact angle measures specified for a given weld and to visually confirm the validity of the weld point as adjusted, to prevent any unexpected collision or robot reach issues.

A weld angle correction tool for adjusting angles of a welding torch positioned by a user while training a robot of a robotic welding system, the weld angle correction tool comprising:
- a computer device configured to operatively interface to the robotic welding system and having weld torch angle software application tools;
- a display operatively interfacing to the computer device;
- and
- at least one user interface operatively interfacing to the computer device, where the weld torch angle software application tools are programmed to:
- display user interface screens on the display,
- allow a user to interact with the user interface screens, via the at least one user interface, to make fine adjustments to at least one torch angle of a welding torch of the robotic welding system, where the at least one torch angle is associated with a taught weld point for a weldment,
- command the collaborative robot to move the welding torch based on the fine adjustments to the at least one torch angle in real time as the user makes the fine adjustments via the user interface screens, and
- allow the user to electronically save the weld point with the fine adjustments.
A robotic welding system for adjusting angles of a welding torch positioned by a user while training the robotic welding system, the robotic welding system comprising:
- a robot having an arm;
- a welding torch operatively connected to the arm of the robot;
- a robot controller operatively connected to the robot;
- and
- a weld angle correction tool including:
- a computer device configured to operatively interface to the robot controller and having weld torch angle software application tools,
- a display operatively interfacing to the computer device, and
- at least one user interface operatively interfacing to the computer device, where the weld angle correction tool is configured to:
- display user interface screens on the display,
- allow a user to interact with the user interface screens, via the at least one user interface, to make fine adjustments to at least one torch angle of the welding torch of the robotic welding system, where the at least one torch angle is associated with a taught weld point for a weldment,
- command the collaborative robot to move the welding torch based on the fine adjustments to the at least one torch angle in real time as the user makes the fine adjustments via the user interface screens, and
- allow the user to electronically save the weld point in the robot controller with the fine adjustments.
