Abstract
Ion exchange membranes obtainable by curing a composition comprising: (a) a monomer comprising an aromatic group and at least one polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated group; (b) a photoinitiator which has an absorption maximum at a wavelength longer than 380 nm when measured in one or more of the following solvents at a temperature of 23° C.: water, ethanol and toluene; and (c) at least one co-initiator.
Claims25
An ion exchange membrane obtained by curing a composition comprising:
- (a) a monomer comprising an aromatic group and at least one polymerisable ethylenically unsaturated group;
- (b) a photoinitiator having a visible color and which has an absorption maximum between 400 and 800 nm when measured in one or more of the following solvents at a temperature of 23° C.:
- water, ethanol and toluene and which has a molar attenuation coefficient at the absorption maximum of at least 7,500 M−1 cm−1;
- and
- (c) at least one co-initiator.
An ion exchange membrane comprising at least 0.0005 wt % of a photoinitiator having a visible color and which has an absorption maximum at a wavelength between 400 and 800 nm when measured in one or more of the following solvents at a temperature of 23° C.:
- water, ethanol and toluene, and which has a molar attenuation coefficient at the absorption maximum of at least 7,500 M−1 cm−1.
