Abstract
Cosmetic and dermatological compositions, including color changing compositions, are provided which typically include a plurality of synthetic particles having a size in the micrometer or nanometer range. Each synthetic particle typically includes one or more aggregates of a pigment selected from phenoxazone, phenoxazine, and a derivate or precursor thereof, and a stabilizing material which has a refractive index larger than 1.45; the aggregates having a size larger than about 100 nm and the composition being biodegradable and biocompatible.
Claims18
A cosmetic or dermatological formulation comprising a combination of:
- (a) an antioxidant or UV filter, (b) isolated, unencapsulated xanthommatin aggregates present in the formulation at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free-radicals;
- and (c) a colorant for appearance of the cosmetic or dermatological formulation, wherein the formulation is a sun-protectant composition having a SPF of 2-30.
A cosmetic or dermatological formulation comprising isolated, unencapsulated xanthommatin aggregates at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free-radicals, wherein the xanthommatin aggregates are in suspension and a colorant, wherein the formulation is a sun-protectant composition having a SPF of 2-30.
A cosmetic or dermatological formulation comprising a combination of:
- (a) isolated, unencapsulated xanthommatin aggregates present in the formulation at a concentration of 0.01% wt to 0.5% wt to scavenge free-radicals;
- and (b) a colorant for appearance of the cosmetic or dermatological formulation, wherein the colorant is D&C Yellow #11, Red #17, FD&C Blue #1, FD&C Blue #2, RED #4, D&C Red #30, D&C Red #36, aluminum lake, zirconium lake or combination thereof.
