Abstract
A system including a sensored ablation probe tip and a virtual stent, said sensored ablation probe tip for use in a tooth bud ablation procedure that results in tooth agenesis, said sensored ablation probe tip for use with an ablation probe unit. A system including a sensored ablation probe tip and a stent, said sensored ablation probe tip for use in a tooth bud ablation procedure that results in tooth agenesis, said sensored ablation probe tip for use with an ablation probe unit.
Claims23
A tooth bud ablation procedure that results in tooth agenesis, the tooth bud ablation procedure using a predetermined location determined by pre-operatively determining a precise location of a tooth bud, said tooth bud ablation procedure comprising the steps of:
- (a) physically seating a custom surgical stent, made using information from pre-surgical volume scanning, with an imaging device said custom surgical stent having at least one surgical guide so said at least one surgical guide corresponds to at least one tooth bud surgical site, each surgical guide positioned and angled for guiding an ablation probe tip toward said predetermined location;
- (b) after seating said custom surgical stent, inserting said ablation probe tip having a center of ablation through one of said at least one surgical guides, said one of said at least one surgical guides guiding placement of said ablation probe tip so that said center of ablation is positioned at a predetermined location within a tooth bud at said at least one tooth bud surgical site;
- and
- (c) providing ablation energy from an ablation probe unit through said ablation probe tip to said center of ablation at least once to at least partially ablate at least one tooth bud.
