Electronic gaming system and method of providing progressive jackpot play

A gaming device comprising at least one display device, at least one memory, and at least one processor in communication with the at least one display device and the at least one memory, wherein the gaming device is configured to:

• cause display of an electronic game not including a progressive jackpot on the at least one display device;
• identify token data associated with a token in response to the token being inputted at the gaming device, the token comprising an electronic token comprising an electronic media storing at least part of the token data, wherein the token data includes comprises a progressive identification associated with a token progressive, and wherein the token progressive is associated with a progressive jackpot amount;
• in response to receiving the token data, cause display of a plurality of electronic games eligible to be played with the token progressive at the gaming device, the plurality of electronic games comprising the electronic game;
• receive an input in response to selection of the electronic game of the plurality of electronic games;
• cause the electronic game to be linked with the token progressive in response to the input;
• cause display of a current progressive jackpot amount associated with the token progressive to be displayed at the gaming device;
• cause an input amount to be applied a play of the electronic game;
• determine a percentage of the current progressive jackpot amount eligible to be presented for the play of the electronic game based upon the input amount;
• and
• after the input amount is applied to the play of the electronic game, cause a portion of the input amount to be applied to the token progressive.

At least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium with instructions stored thereon that, in response to execution by at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to:

• receive token data associated with a token based upon the token being inputted at a gaming device, the token comprising an electronic token comprising an electronic media storing at least part of the token data, wherein the token data comprises a progressive identification associated with a token progressive jackpot;
• based upon receiving the token data, cause display of a plurality of electronic games eligible to be played with the token progressive at the gaming device;
• receive an input from the gaming device based upon selection of an electronic game of the plurality of electronic games;
• link the electronic game with the token progressive based upon the input, wherein the electronic game is not associated with a progressive jackpot until the electronic game is linked with the token progressive;
• determine a current progressive jackpot amount associated with the token progressive jackpot;
• cause the current progressive jackpot amount to be displayed at the gaming device by communicating with the gaming device;
• use an input amount for a play of the electronic game;
• determine a percentage of the current progressive jackpot amount eligible to be presented for the play of the electronic game based at least in part upon the input amount;
• and
• apply a portion of the input amount to the token progressive after the input amount is used for the play of the electronic game.
