System and method of providing cloud bursting capabilities in a compute environment

A cloud bursting service associated with a plurality of cloud environments, the cloud bursting service comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to be configured to:
• receive a cloud bursting configuration associated with a local compute environment associated with a user, wherein the cloud bursting configuration comprises a persistent cloud bursting setting that instructs the cloud bursting service to spin up at least a portion of all licensed nodes associated with the local compute environment for a period of time across multiple bursting actions;
• integrate, based on the cloud bursting configuration, nodes from one or more cloud environments into one or more clusters of the local compute environment to obtain an integrated hybrid computing environment;
• obtain settings from the user having a job in a jobs queue, the settings being associated with circumstances to either automatically spin up or shut down compute resources in the integrated hybrid computing environment;
• and
• based on the settings, determine whether to spin up a new node on the integrated hybrid computing environment to process the job from the jobs queue for the local compute environment according to the period of time associated with the persistent cloud bursting setting.

A local compute environment comprising:

• one or more processors;
• and
• at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage device storing instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to be configured to:
• transmit a cloud bursting configuration associated with the local compute environment to a cloud bursting service, wherein the cloud bursting configuration comprises a persistent cloud bursting setting that instructs the cloud bursting service to spin up at least a portion of all licensed nodes associated with the local compute environment for a period of time across multiple bursting actions;
• and
• integrate, based on the cloud bursting configuration and as managed by the cloud bursting service, nodes from one or more cloud environments into one or more clusters of the local compute environment to obtain an integrated hybrid computing environment, wherein the cloud bursting service obtains settings from a user having a job in a jobs queue, the settings being associated with circumstances to either automatically spin up or shut down compute resources in the integrated hybrid computing environment, based on the settings, determines whether to spin up a new node on the integrated hybrid computing environment to process the job for the local compute environment according to the period of time associated with the persistent cloud bursting setting.
