Explosion-protected housing for means for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic radiation

An explosion-protected housing for means for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic radiation, comprising:

• a housing body configured to receive the means for transmitting and/or receiving electromagnetic radiation;
• and
• a window element having a first side that faces an interior of the housing body and an opposite second side that faces away from the interior of the housing body,
• wherein the window element transmits electromagnetic radiation,
• wherein the housing body presses the second side of the window element in the direction of a seat formed in the interior of the housing body such that the explosion-protected housing is formed as a pressure-resistant housing and/or as a dust-tight housing, and
• wherein the interior of the housing body surrounds a cylindrical circumferential area of the window element to define a cylindrical joint, and
• wherein the cylindrical joint defines a gap so that the cylindrical joint prevents propagation of a flame from an explosion in the interior of the housing body to outside the interior of the housing body.
