Abstract
A method of removing chemical contaminants from a composition comprising an active, a solvent, and a contaminant can include providing an initial feed supply, wherein the initial feed supply comprises the active, the solvent, and the contaminant, wherein the contaminant can include 1,4 dioxane, dimethyl dioxane, or a combination thereof; including filtering the initial feed stock through a nanofilter.
Claims20
A method of removing chemical contaminants from a composition comprising an active, a first solvent, and a chemical contaminant, the method comprising:
- providing an initial feed supply, wherein the initial feed supply comprises the active, the first solvent, and the chemical contaminant comprising 1,4 dioxane, dimethyl dioxane, or a combination thereof;
- providing a nanofilter;
- and
- filtering the initial feed supply through the nanofilter to form an initial retentate and an initial filtrate;
- wherein the initial retentate has a lower ratio of the chemical contaminant to the active than the initial feed supply.
A method of removing chemical contaminants from a composition comprising an active, a solvent, and a chemical contaminant, the method comprising:
- providing an initial feed supply, wherein the initial feed supply comprises the active comprising an ethoxylated surfactant, a sulfated ethoxylated surfactant, an ethoxylated polymer, a propoxylated surfactant, a propoxylated sulfated surfactant, a propoxylated polymer, or a combination thereof;
- the solvent;
- and the contaminant;
- providing a nanofilter;
- filtering the initial feed supply through the nanofilter to form an initial retentate and a filtrate;
- wherein the initial retentate has a lower ratio of the contaminant to the active than the initial feed supply;
- repeating the steps of filtering and adding a solvent until the process yields a concentrated retentate including 18 wt. % to 99 wt. % active.
