Energy storage system for an elevator car, and a method and an apparatus for monitoring the energy storage system

A method for monitoring an energy storage system of an elevator car, wherein an energy storage of the elevator car is mounted to the elevator car, the method comprising:

• receiving, from an energy storage management system that is mounted to the elevator car and configured to monitor a state of the energy storage of the elevator car, a signal indicating a state associated with the energy storage system;
• determining an operating state of the elevator car;
• determining an action for the elevator car based on the state associated with the energy storage system and the operating state of the elevator car;
• and
• controlling the elevator car to perform the action,
• wherein the action comprises one of the following:
• make an immediate emergency stop;
• drive to the nearest floor and stop there;
• drive to a charging floor and stop there;
• serve the present active call and stop at the charging floor;
• serve all existing calls and stop at the charging floor;
• continue a normal operation until next maintenance.

An apparatus for monitoring an energy storage system of an elevator car, wherein an energy storage of the elevator car is mounted to the elevator car, the apparatus comprising:

• means for receiving, from an energy storage management system that is mounted to the elevator car and configured to monitor a state of the energy storage of the elevator car, a signal indicating a state associated with the energy storage system;
• means for determining an operating state of the elevator car;
• means for determining an action for the elevator car based on the state associated with the energy storage system and the operating state of the elevator car;
• and
• means for controlling the elevator car to perform the action,
• wherein the action comprises one of the following:
• make an immediate emergency stop;
• drive to the nearest floor and stop there;
• drive to a charging floor and stop there;
• serve the present active call and stop at the charging floor;
• serve all existing calls and stop at the charging floor;
• continue a normal operation until next maintenance.
