Abstract
A water display including a number of pixels or manifolds that may include water nozzles to emit streams of water and/or other utilities such as lighting is described. The water streams may be pixelated so as to provide a high resolution waveform or other choreography. The choreography transitions between waveforms to provide the appearance of a cascading or undulating wave. A tool to design the water display and simulate its appearance is also described.
Claims14
A water and light display, comprising:
- a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix, wherein each pixel is represented by a pixel address, wherein each pixel includes a nozzle to emit a water stream at varying heights, and wherein each pixel includes a light source configured to illuminate the water stream of the pixel;
- a power grid that provides power to the plurality of pixels, including power to nozzles to emit water streams and power to light sources to illuminate the water stream of the pixel;
- a lattice structure that supports the matrix of pixels and that serves as an electrical ground for the power grid;
- a control system that is operatively coupled to the plurality of pixels, and that controls the plurality of pixels by providing data packets to particular pixels of the plurality of pixels;
- wherein each data packet includes data address information which corresponds to the pixel address of one of the particular pixels;
- wherein each data packet includes control data which provides instructions to the one of the particular pixels to vary the height of the water stream emitted from the nozzle, and to illuminate the water stream of the one of the particular pixels.
