Abstract
Embodiments include a system for determining cardiovascular information for a patient. The system may include at least one computer system configured to receive patient-specific data regarding a geometry of the patient's heart, and create a three-dimensional model representing at least a portion of the patient's heart based on the patient-specific data. The at least one computer system may be further configured to create a physics-based model relating to a blood flow characteristic of the patient's heart and determine a fractional flow reserve within the patient's heart based on the three-dimensional model and the physics-based model.
Claims16
A computer-implemented method for simulating a fluid flow, comprising:
- accessing, via one or more processors, a geometric model of a volume of a portion of anatomy of an individual;
- simulating, via the one or more processors, fluid flow of blood through the volume using a particle-based simulation, wherein the simulating includes modelling one or more walls of the volume as compliant by coupling an elastodynamic model of the one or more walls to the particle-based simulating of the blood;
- determining, via the one or more processors and based on the simulating, one or more flow characteristics at one or more points within the fluid flow;
- and
- determining, via the one or more processors and based on the one or more flow characteristics at the one or more points, at least one prediction regarding the fluid flow through the volume.
A system for simulating a fluid flow, comprising:
- at least one memory storing instructions;
- and
- at least one processor operatively connected to the at least one memory, and configured to execute the instructions to perform operations, including:
- accessing a geometric model of a volume of a portion of anatomy of an individual;
- simulating fluid flow of blood through the volume using a particle-based simulation, wherein the simulating includes modelling one or more walls of the volume as compliant by coupling an elastodynamic model of the one or more walls to the particle-based simulating of the blood;
- determining, based on the simulating, one or more flow characteristics at one or more points within the fluid flow;
- and
- determining, based on the one or more flow characteristics at the one or more points, at least one prediction regarding the fluid flow through the volume.
A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising instructions for simulating a fluid flow that are executable by at least one processor to perform operations, including:
- accessing a geometric model of a volume of a portion of anatomy of an individual;
- simulating fluid flow of blood through the volume using a particle-based simulation, wherein the simulating includes modelling one or more walls of the volume as compliant by coupling an elastodynamic model of the one or more walls to the particle-based simulating of the blood;
- determining, based on the simulating, one or more flow characteristics at one or more points within the fluid flow;
- and
- determining, based on the one or more flow characteristics at the one or more points, at least one prediction regarding the fluid flow through the volume.
