Abstract
A wire bonded triode for amplification of electromagnetic signals that includes an electron emitter (cathode), control grid, and an electron collector (anode) and having one or more wire bonded structures. A method of making a triode for amplification of electromagnetic signals that includes wirebonding one or more wires to form a wire bonded structure corresponding with one or more of an anode, grid and/or cathode element.
Claims23
A method of amplifying an electromagnetic signal, comprising:
- emitting electrons from an emitter of a triode,
- providing, with a grid input signal, a voltage signal to a grid of the triode,
- controlling, with the grid, travel of electrons emitted from the emitter to a collector of the triode,
- receiving at least a portion of the electrons emitted from the emitter with the collector to provide an output signal,
- wherein the triode comprises:
- a package defining a cavity,
- the grid, the emitter and the collector disposed inside the cavity,
- wherein at least one of the grid, the emitter and the collector is a wirebonded structure inside the cavity or at least partially exposed to the cavity, and
- wherein the grid is disposed between the emitter and the collector.
