Catheter assembly with seal member

A catheter assembly comprising:

• a catheter hub having an open proximal end and a distal end, with an inner surface extending therebetween defining a catheter hub interior cavity;
• a catheter fixedly connected to and extending distally from the distal end of the catheter hub;
• an actuator extending proximally inside the catheter hub interior cavity from the catheter hub distal end to a free open end;
• a seal member having a cylindrical body including an outer surface and a membrane extending perpendicularly relative to a central axis of the cylindrical body to separate a cavity defined by a distal portion and a cylindrical bore defined by a proximal portion of the cylindrical body, the cavity of the distal portion and the bore of the proximal portion defining a passageway openable through the membrane;
• at least one groove axially extending along the outer surface of the cylindrical body along the distal portion and at least partially along the outer surface of the proximal portion to establish a fluid path between the open proximal end and the distal interior cavity portion of the catheter hub to vent air from the distal interior cavity portion to the open proximal end.
