Abstract
A medical device frame including an undulating frame element defining a series of peaks each defining a longitudinal splay angle, circumferential cant angle, or combinations thereof. In some examples, the series of peaks are non-overlapping when the frame is in an expanded configuration and overlap when the frame is in the collapsed configuration. The longitudinal splay angle and/or circumferential cant angle may remain relatively unchanged between the expanded and collapsed configurations (e.g., within about 15%).
Claims15
A method comprising:
- delivering a medical device to a lumen of a patient, the medical device including a frame in a collapsed, delivery state having a serpentine frame element extending along a length of the frame and defining a first stent row defining a first series of peak portions oriented toward a first end of the frame and a second series of peak portions, wherein the first series of peak portions each include a first leg, a second leg, and an apex therebetween, wherein the first leg is raised such that the first leg is radially offset from the second leg, the first series of peak portions being oriented toward a second end of the frame, at least a portion of the first series of peak portions projecting radially away from at least one of a longitudinal axis of the frame and a circumference of the frame in both the collapsed, delivery state and an enlarged, deployed state, wherein, in the collapsed delivery state, adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions overlap each other;
- and
- transitioning the medical device from the collapsed, delivery state to the enlarged, deployed state in which the adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions are no longer overlapping such that a first leg of a first peak portion is nested over a second leg of a second, adjacent peak portion in the collapsed delivery state.
A medical device comprising:
- a frame transitionable between a collapsed state and an expanded state, the frame having a serpentine frame element extending along a length of the frame and defining a first stent row defining a first series of peak portions oriented toward a first end of the frame and a second series of peak portions oriented toward a second end of the frame, wherein the first series of peak portions each include a first leg, a second leg, and an apex therebetween, wherein the first leg is raised such that the first leg is radially offset from the apex,
- wherein at least a portion of the first series of peak portions project radially away from at least one of a longitudinal axis of the frame and a circumference of the frame in both the collapsed state and the expanded state,
- wherein, in the collapsed state, adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions overlap each other, and
- wherein, in the expanded state, the adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions no longer overlap each other.
A medical device comprising:
- a frame transitionable between a compressed configuration and an expanded configuration, the frame having a serpentine frame element extending along a length of the frame and defining a first stent row, the first stent row defining a first series of peak portions oriented toward a first end of the frame and a second series of peak portions oriented toward a second end of the frame, wherein the first series of peak portions each include a first leg, a second leg, and an apex therebetween, wherein the first leg is raised such that the first leg is radially offset from the apex,
- wherein at least a portion of the first series of peak portions are splayed, tilted, slanted, or otherwise angled radially outward from at least one of a longitudinal axis of the frame and a circumference of the frame at a first angle in both the compressed configuration and the expanded configuration,
- wherein, in the compressed configuration, adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions overlap each other, and
- wherein in the expanded configuration, the adjacent portions of the first series of peak portions no longer overlap each other.
