Abstract
A vehicle chassis includes a pair of rear side members disposed on a rear floor of a vehicle so as to extend in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle while being spaced apart in a transverse direction of the vehicle. The pair of rear side members is manufactured in a casting process A cross member is configured to extend in the transverse direction of the vehicle and is manufactured in an extrusion process. The cross member is inserted into a mold when the rear side members are cast such that both ends of the cross member are connected to the rear side members disposed on both sides, respectively.
Claims19
A vehicle chassis comprising:
- a pair of rear side members disposed on a rear floor of a vehicle so as to extend in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle while being spaced apart in a transverse direction of the vehicle, wherein the pair of rear side members is manufactured in a casting process;
- and
- a cross member configured to extend in the transverse direction of the vehicle and manufactured in an extrusion process, the cross member being inserted into a mold when the rear side members are cast such that both ends of the cross member are connected to the rear side members disposed on both sides, respectively.
A method of manufacturing a vehicle chassis, the method comprising:
- extruding a cross member configured to extend in a transverse direction of a vehicle;
- inserting the cross member into a mold for casting a pair of rear side members configured to be disposed on a rear floor of the vehicle so as to extend in a longitudinal direction of the vehicle while being spaced apart in the transverse direction of the vehicle;
- and
- casting the pair of rear side members such that both ends of the cross member are connected to the rear side members disposed on both sides, respectively.
