Abstract
A manufacturing cell for producing a three-dimensionally deformable wood veneer, includes a receiving surface for receiving a wood veneer to be processed, and a device for partly or completely separating the wood veneer in order to form veneer strands. The cell further includes a device for pressing the wood veneer to be processed and the veneer strands against the receiving surface. The device is designed to generate a pressure difference between a first side and a second side of the wood veneer to be processed and the veneer strands.
Claims7
A method for producing a three-dimensional deformable wood veneer, the method including the following steps:
- providing a wood veneer flatly held on a plane receiving surface, the wood veneer having a first side abutting the receiving surface, the wood veneer has a thickness selected from a range between 0.3 mm and 2 mm inclusive;
- partially or completely separating the flatly held wood veneer into a plurality of flatly held veneer strands, wherein the partial or complete separation of the wood veneer is performed using a plurality of knives, wherein two or more knives are arranged next to each other to simultaneously make parallel cuts in the wood veneer and simultaneously produce the plurality of veneer strands which are adjacent to each other and wherein the cuts separating the veneer strands partially or completely from each other are oriented parallel to each other and wherein the veneer strands each have a width selected from a range of 0.5 mm-3 mm;
- producing joints between the flatly held veneer strands;
- wherein
- during the partial or complete separation and during producing the joints, the wood veneer and the veneer strands are pressed against the receiving surface by creating a pressure difference, so that the wood veneer and the veneer strands are flatly held during the partial or complete separation and during producing the joints,
- wherein a first pressure is present on the first side of the wood veneer and veneer strands,
- wherein a second pressure is present on a second side of the wood veneer and veneer strands facing away from the first side, and
- wherein the first pressure is smaller than the second pressure.
